This detail illustrates the connection of the roof purlin to a hot-rolled endwall rafter, including the installation of the rafter flange brace and rake angle along the roof edge.
The roof purlin is a zee-shaped member that spans along the endwall rafter to support the roof panels. The purlin connects to the rafter using (2) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A307 bolts with (4) washers—one washer on each side of each bolt.
A rafter flange brace is installed near the column to provide lateral stability to the endwall rafter's flange. This brace connects from the rafter to a welded flange brace clip using (2) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A325 bolts with (4) washers. Note the A325 structural-grade hardware used for flange brace connections due to their critical bracing function.
At the roof edge, a rake angle is installed along the top of the rafter to provide a finished edge and support for the roof panel termination. The rake angle is secured to the rafter using (1) member screw SDS in roof color, providing a clean, color-matched appearance at the building's roof perimeter.
