This detail illustrates the bypass lapped connection of wall girts at a rigid frame column, including the welded girt clip and the sequence for fastening the first and second lapped girts.

The outside flange of the column provides the mounting surface for the welded girt clip. The welded girt clip is shop-welded to the column flange ahead of time (shown for reference only), giving the lapped girts their attachment point without requiring separate fasteners to install the clip itself.

The first lapped wall girt sits against the welded girt clip and is fastened down using (1) 1/2" x 1" A307 fin head bolt with (1) washer. This bolt and nut assembly must be wrench tight before the second lapped girt is installed.

The second lapped wall girt laps over the first girt and is bolted through both girts and the clip using standard 1/2" A307 bolts. Girt lap bolts are not shown in this detail for clarity; reference the standard detail for those requirements. A similar connection is used for the rafter.
