This detail illustrates the installation of a ridge vent system with a flat ridge cap at the peak of the building. The ridge vent provides passive ventilation for the building interior while preventing water and pest infiltration.

The roof panels terminate at the peak purlins on both sides of the ridge, leaving an opening for airflow. Outside closures are installed at the end of each roof panel to seal the panel ribs while still allowing air movement through the ridge vent system.

The ridge vent is a 10'-0" long vented section that spans across the ridge opening. A bird screen is integrated into the ridge vent to prevent birds, insects, and debris from entering while allowing air to exhaust. The flat ridge cap covers the ridge vent assembly and is secured using stitch screws at 12" on center in ridge vent color along both edges.

End cap skirts are installed at the ends of the ridge vent assembly to provide a finished termination and prevent water intrusion at the ridge cap ends.

Refer to the ridge vent supplier's instructions for proper ridge vent installation specific to your ventilation product.
