This detail sheet illustrates three connection configurations for framing walkdoor openings in wall systems. All walkdoor framed openings are field located, requiring on-site measurements and modifications during installation.

Base Detail for Walkdoor Jamb (Left): The walkdoor jamb is secured at its base using a welded clip attached to the foundation. Anchor spacing varies per walkdoor configuration. Note that anchors are not shown for clarity and are not provided by Armstrong Steel (A.S.C.)—these must be sourced separately and installed according to the required spacing for each specific door application.

Walkdoor Jamb to Wall Girt (Center): This detail shows how the walkdoor jamb connects to intersecting wall girts using a bolted jamb-to-girt clip (BC-13). The connection uses (4) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A307 bolts with (8) washers. The wall girt will need to be field drilled with 9/16" holes for clip attachment. The walkdoor header spans across the top of the opening, supported by the walkdoor jambs on each side.

Wall Girt to Walkdoor Jamb (Right): This detail shows girts terminating at the walkdoor jamb. The girt is secured using (4) member screws in wall color. The girt will need to be field cut at the walkdoor jamb location to create the door opening. This configuration is used where girts run into the side of the door frame rather than passing behind it.

When installing walkdoor framing, field verify all opening dimensions and locations before cutting girts or drilling holes. Proper alignment of jambs is critical for door operation.
