This detail illustrates the connection of a cee-shaped endwall column to a rigid frame rafter. This connection occurs where endwall columns meet the main rigid frame rafter at the endwall frame line, rather than connecting to a lighter endwall rafter.
The rigid frame rafter has a welded clip attached to the flange, which provides the connection point for the endwall column. The cee column is positioned with its web facing the welded clip and secured using (2) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A325 bolts with (4) washers—one washer on each side of each bolt. Note that A325 structural-grade bolts are specified for this connection, indicating a higher-strength requirement due to the loads transferred through the rigid frame.
The orientation key in the lower right shows the endwall location reference for proper placement during erection. When installing, ensure the endwall column is plumb and properly aligned with the welded clip before tightening all bolts. This connection transfers vertical loads from the rigid frame rafter through the endwall column to the foundation.
