This detail illustrates the connection of wall girts to a rigid frame column along the building sidewall, including the installation of column flange braces.
The wall girts attach to the column using (6) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A307 bolts with (12) washers—one washer on each side of the connection. These bolts are installed through the girt web and into the column flange. At the top of the first installed girt, a single 1/2" x 1" A307 fin head bolt with (1) washer secures the girt flange, providing additional stability and preventing rotation.
The column flange brace connects to a welded flange brace clip on the column using (2) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A325 bolts with (4) washers. Note that the flange brace hardware is A325 (structural grade) rather than A307 due to the critical bracing function.
