This detail illustrates the connection of an eave strut to a rigid frame column at a lowside condition where the eave strut bypasses the column rather than terminating at it.
The eave strut is a C-shaped member that runs horizontally along the eave line, providing support for both the roof panels and wall panels at their intersection. In this bypass configuration, the eave strut continues past the rigid frame column, which is common at interior frame lines where the eave strut spans multiple bays.
The connection uses (4) 1/2" x 1-1/4" A307 bolts with (8) washers—one washer on each side of each bolt.
The bolts pass through the bottom flange of the eave strut and into the top of the rigid frame column. During installation, the eave strut can be rested on top of the column flange while positioning the bolts. On low-slope applications, use a strap or rope to temporarily secure the eave strut and prevent it from sliding off the column until all bolts are installed and tightened.
