Screw 2

This detail illustrates the proper fastener locations and patterns for attaching PBR roof panels to the building's purlins and eave struts. The drawing covers member screw placement, side lap connections, and end lap requirements.

Member Screw Pattern: Roof panels are secured using 12-14 x 1-1/2" member screws in a 5"/7"/5" on center pattern at specific locations. The screw pattern spans across the panel ribs with 7" spacing at the outer sections and 5" spacing at the center, creating a repeating 12" module. The panels have a 2-1/2" edge distance from the panel side lap to the first fastener.

Location Types:

  • Type A (Eave Strut, Peak Purlin, and Panel End Laps): Screws are installed at every rib location using the 5"/7"/5" pattern. This increased fastening is required at panel terminations and transitions where greater wind uplift resistance is needed.
  • Type B (Intermediate Purlins): Screws are installed at a reduced pattern at purlins between the eave and peak, as these locations experience less stress.

Detail "A" - Side Lap Connection: At panel side laps, apply 1" tape sealant along the bearing leg before overlapping. Stitch screws are installed at 20" on center in roof color. These screws connect adjacent panels at the bearing leg without penetrating the purlin, creating a weather-tight seam in the sheeting direction.

Section Through Panel End Laps: Where panels overlap along the roof slope, a minimum 6" lap is required. Apply 1" tape sealant between the panels at the lap. Member screws at 5"/7"/5" on center (12-14 x 1-1/2" in roof color) secure both panel layers to the purlin at these lap locations.

Note: All sheeting fasteners will color match to the panel.
