This detail illustrates the installation of a base angle and base trim at the foundation-to-wall panel transition. This assembly creates a weather-tight seal at the bottom of the wall while providing a finished appearance.
The base angle is mounted to the concrete foundation using a minimum 1/4" diameter anchor or equivalent power-driven fastener at 24" on center maximum. Note that anchors are not provided by Armstrong Steel (A.S.C.) and must be sourced separately. The base angle sits on top of the finished floor.
The wall panel attaches to the structural framing (girts) above and bears on the base angle at the bottom. Member screws are installed at a 5"/7"/5" on center pattern (Pattern A) in wall color (see detail Screw_1 for specifications). The centerline symbol indicates the location of the structural member behind the panel.
An inside closure (optional) can be installed between the wall panel ribs and the base angle to seal out dust, moisture, and pests while still allowing some ventilation. The base trim (BA) covers the exterior face of the base angle and extends down over the foundation, providing a finished appearance and additional weather protection.
This assembly ensures proper drainage away from the building while protecting the wall panel edges from ground-level moisture and debris.
